Uran: On the road near the JNPT route and the PU B Nhava Sheva Customs Office, a speeding trailer collided with an auto rickshaw, resulting in the death of one passenger on the spot. The rickshaw driver was injured. The accident occurred morning around 7 AM on August 7.
Three workers—Bharat Thakur (resident of Kelwane), Sachin Mhatre from Bhom, and Akash Chougule—were traveling home in the rickshaw after a night shift. Sachin Mhatre was driving the rickshaw. When they reached PU B, a speeding trailer coming from the opposite direction collided violently with the rickshaw. Bharat Thakur died on the spot, while Sachin Mhatre and Akash Chougule were injured.
During this time, Aniket Vasant Tandel, President of the Police Friends Organization, was on duty and witnessed the accident. He contacted Police Sub-Inspector Dipak Dabhade from the Nhava Sheva Police Station to report the incident. Subsequently, an ambulance took all three injured individuals to JNPA Hospital. Bharat Thakur was declared dead on arrival at the hospital, while Sachin Mhatre and Akash Chougule were reportedly transferred to MGM Hospital in Vashi for further treatment.
